I would like to talk to someone regarding land that we are considering planting native pollinator plants that support pollinators, specifically honey bees from April to October.

Expert Response
We suggest you reach out to an agriculture/horticulture agent in your local county Extension office, especially if you are inquiring on behalf of a voltaic company using land around solar arrays for growing native plants for pollinators since this is a larger scale and may entail different forms of maintenance than what would be used in a home landscape. If you are inquiring about home garden use, we have several web resources that may be useful, linked below. Honey bees are non-native and do not need support in the form of wildflower plantings (compared to our native bees that specialize in certain plant species for pollen), though if you are aware of local bee hives that would benefit from added floral resources, that can certainly be a consideration. Otherwise, honey bees compete with native bees for floral resources and, as generalists, they are able to make use of a wider array of flower species than our native bees, many of which are specialists.
