Expert Response

Hello Phil,

You can reply to this message with an image of the plant and a horticulture expert can ID it for you on this platform. Let me know if you'd still rather get information on having the plant tested.

Hello,

Sorry for the delayed response, and thanks for getting back to me so promptly. I am attaching the pics. I believe the species is Prunella vulgaris var. lanceolata, (and not the invasive Prunella vulgaris). I consulted Hitchcock and Cronquist, and the leaf morphology appears to follow the description of that variety, but often leaf morphology can be deceiving. Regardless, I want to be 100% sure before I let it propagate, if that makes sense.

Thanks again for the help, and best regards,
Philipp

Philipp: I received your question/comments and pictures and have forwarded them on to the head of the OSU Herbarium. He will respond to me and I will forward his response to you. That said, he will be gone until July 28th and probably will have a backlog awaiting him. Chip Bubl  OSU Extension/Columbia County <personal data hidden><personal data hidden>.
