Honey Locust bugs #838959

Asked July 04, 2023, 3:52 PM EDT

We have a mature Honey Locust tree that is starting to drop some leaves which I interpret as a sign of a problem. The leaves that are dropping on our deck are turning yellow and have a single brown spot on them. A bug with long back legs was found on the deck and it's mouth parts seemed to be stuck to one of the dark spots; its body also looked slit open on the back and the innards appeared to be gone (I might be imagining this). The photos should help. Thank you for your assistance.

Expert Response

It is likely damage from the locust plant bug.

I think you found the exoskeleton of one that has been shed.
