I Think My Lime Tree Has Scale #837615

Hi there,
My wife and I purchased a 4-5 year old Persian Lime tree this spring, and this is the first citrus either of us had owned. I noticed little black ants on the tree and after doing some basic searching I think the tree has scale. Do you have any advice treating the scale or ants? The lime tree is in a pot in our backyard. The spot it’s in gets full sun pretty much all day. Thank you for any advice you can offer!!

You can squish the scales to destroy and remove them by running pinched fingers along the branch, you can prune off the infested areas and dispose of them in the garbage, you can try spraying the infested areas with a high pressure water spray to dislodge the scales (scale insects only move around after they hatch out of the egg), you can use an insecticidal soap on the scales (this will kill them, but the covering will remain on the plant even after the insect underneath has died, so you will need to physically remove the coverings).
