Canada thistle? #836782

Is this Canada thistle? Can I just chop it down and over seed with others things and just Moe them thereafter?

Controlling Canada thistle is a challenge. It can be reduced by excluding light but is usually spreads aggressively underground. It is also a noxious weed and should be removed.
