Basil with paling leaves except for veins #835086

Trying to help a friend with her basil (unknown variety). Leaves are paler than leaf veins. Plants were bought from big box store and planted in planter mid-May in California, Maryland. Used fresh miracle grow potting soil. Planter is next to established garden area in full sun.

Hi, 

You can add a low dose balanced fertilizer schedule to the watering and make sure they are getting watered regularly. They just appear to be a little stressed. The drought like weather has probably had some effect on them. 

The plants will benefit from some thinning as well. Start making some pesto to freeze!
