Fruiting Pear Tree - Orange spots on leaves? #834921

Asked June 10, 2023, 3:53 PM EDT

This year is the first I am seeing these orange spots on the pear tree leaves. I am wondering what is causing them and of course how to control it. I do have several trees (2 pears and 5-6 apples) in a row. I have noticed just today that one of the apples is showing a fes leaves with this orange spot on them..

Expert Response

Hi,

Both of these symptoms are rust on your trees. It is too late this year to spray for it, but we can send you some reference material to treat it for it next year.

Virginia Tech has a Spray Schedule for home fruit growers. It can be a little difficult to read through at first but it explains what sprays to use and when. (page 14 and 15) The beginning of the publication
