Wilting pea plants #834912

Asked June 10, 2023, 2:47 PM EDT

I planted snap peas in my garden on April 25, they are now about 3' tall but no blossoms yet. They seemed to be doing very well until this morning. As you are probably aware, the weather has been unusually warm and dry. However, yesterday we received about a third of an inch of rain. This morning the sun came out and I noticed that several of the plants were wilting at the top. Upon further inspection, I noticed that there were spots on the leaves. I did not see any visible insects (mites, aphids, etc) but I suspect that may be the issue. Any advice you can give?

Thank you for your question, Randy.  Although I am unable to see the spots clearly, I suspect they have powdery mildew.  You can find a description of it here, and, using the cultural controls in the future, consider using a fungicide if needed (marked "H" , available to homeowners):  https://pnwhandbooks.org/plantdisease/host-disease/pea-pisum-sativum-powdery-mildew
I hope this helps.  Good luck!
