Insect issue on spruce? #834608

Asked June 08, 2023, 3:48 PM EDT

We have a group of 3 spruce trees on the north side of our 4-season porch. The center tree has weird seedpod looking things on the branches and they are dying. Any idea as to what it is? is it contagious to the other two trees? Is it curable or should the tree(s) be removed and something more suitable to the site be planted instead?

Hi Cindy,

I believe your trees have Spruce Gall Adelgid.

Spruce trees are more and more susceptable to various problems. If they should not make it I would suggest planting something else.

Good luck,
