What's eating my backyard peach tree? #834287
Asked June 07, 2023, 11:01 AM EDT
I live in Castle Rock.
I have a 3 year old peach tree in my backyard. I just recently noticed something is eating my peach tree leaves, there is also some curling in others. The tree trunk has a small part that looks separating like something tried to eat that. What could be causing this and how do I treat it?
Other than that the tree looks healthy.

Hi Lucy,
I'm sorry to hear about your tree! Could you send some photos of what you're seeing to help us diagnose what may be happening?
Thanks!

Thanks!
From what I can see, this looks like physical damage. For the trunk/stem; likely it was injured by winter sun or dry winds; the bark is peeling back as the dead portion ages. You could remove this dead portion of the stem to improve air flow; be careful not to cut into living tissue when you do this.
The leaves look to me as they have been damaged by hail; they don't have the characteristic patterns of insect feeding. The tree looks to be in good health overall, so I don't think you have anything to worry about!
Cordially,
John
