Carmine Jewel Bush Cherry #833560

Asked June 03, 2023, 3:58 PM EDT

I am chair of the Itasca County MG and need help identifying what is happening with this Carmine Jewel Bush Cherry. It finished blooming last week. I lost another bush cherry last year after fruit was set. There is such little leaf production at this point I thought I would ask if there is an issue.

Expert Response

Thanks for the question. However I am not quite sure what you are asking about. Does it concern the survival of your current tree and/or the inability to set fruit?  Please clarify. Many thanks

My concern is that the tree might have a fungal infection. Can it be identified and can it be treated? The very tiny leave are starting to turn yellow.

Thanks for your clarification. The only way to know for sure about the possibility of a fungal infection is to have a laboratory analysis performed. The University of Minnesota Plant Dosease Laboratory is equipped to do this for a charge. Please contact them:
