White foam like stuff in my vegetable garden #833319

Asked June 02, 2023, 8:35 AM EDT

What is this white foam like stuff in my vegetable garden? It appear overnight. I have been watering my garden using a hose. Yesterday, I installed a sprinkle/drip system (black hose in picture) and finally soaked the plants well. This morning I found a white foam-like substance in my garden. It was easy to remove with my garden spade. The picture with soil mixed in with the foam is what it looks like when taken up.

Hi- this is a slime mold, one of the many types of wood-decaying fungi that occur naturally and often appear on organic mulches during warm, wet weather.

Removing it with a shovel is an excellent approach. It is completely harmless to people and other animals.
