Expert Response

Two aphid species. Aphids are very common and are considered a minor pest. The white, immobile flecks are cast skins that result from aphids molting.

Encourage predators with attractant plants and avoid toxic pesticides. Control low aphid infestations with a robust spray of water, spray with water containing a little liquid soap, or use insecticidal soap. Check product label for directions before spraying. And avoid spraying when temperatures are above 85 degrees F.

Good luck
