Tree Identification #831533
Asked May 23, 2023, 9:07 AM EDT
I'm not receiving any correspondence from CSU Extension at the email address I originally provided so I decided to ask the question again with a different email address. My apologies.
I have a tree growing in my back yard amongst the bushes, and I don't know what it is. Could it be a young cottonwood, or if not, what is it? I've attached three photos of the leaves and bark.
Thank you.

Expert Response
Hi, Tracy: thanks for contacting the Jefferson county extension plant diagnostic clinic.
It is difficult to identify this tree from your photos, though as the leaves are opposite it doesn't seem to be a cottonwood. If you can bring a sample of a twig and leaves to the extension office we can help to identify the tree: 15200 West 6th Ave golden 80401. There is a $15 charge for plant identification for Jefferson county residents.
