Just noticed these caterpillars on my Aspen tree this morning. They seem to be eating leaves pretty fast.

Just noticed these caterpillars on my Aspen tree this morning. They seem to be eating leaves pretty fast.
How do I handle this? I don’t use pesticides or any spray in my yard.

Does the insect cause any webbing or curling of the leaves? Fortunately trees can handle some defoliation of their leaves. How widespread is the issue on the tree? Unfortunately, I can't immediately find a match for this caterpillar. You are also welcome to bring a sample to the Yamhill county extension office in McMinnville and a Master Gardener can help you identify the insect.
