Weed issue in a Kentucky Bluegrass lawn #829418

Asked May 10, 2023, 8:42 PM EDT

I am wondering if I have a nimbleweed issue in my Kentucky bluegrass lawn. I have notices circular patches of this weed in the 5 townhouse yards. Other than this grass the lawn is all Kentucky bluegrass. In a couple of areas small patches have totally taken over the normal Kentucky bluegrass. I have contacted a lawn care company here in Creston and they are willing to apply tenacity. I just want to make sure this is nimblewill and not something else. Any information you can priovide to me will be much appreciated.

Good afternoon Galen,

Thank you for contacting AnswerLine.

Here is the response from our turf grass management specialist:

It looks like a coarse tall fescue, it is definitely not nimblewill. Tenacity could knock the tall fescue back some, but they would be better off having those patches sprayed with a non-selective herbicide and then reseeding with the grass they want.
