I repotted a 2 ft tall hibiscus in a larger pot about 6 years and it thrived. No fertilizer, occasional systemic pesticide. a month ago it started developing more yellow leaves than usual. Now it has about 1/2 the leaf cover. It is also now up-taking much less water than usual. I pruned about 15-20% and fertilized about 1 week ago. It's sprouting new leaves but the yellowing has accelerated. Thanks for your thoughts. Mark

Good afternoon Mark and thank you for reaching out to ask 2.Extension.
If you have not repotted this plant for 6 years, it may be time to do so. Plants that stay in the same soil for that long can totally deplete the soil. Also things can build up, such as minerals fromyour water.
My suggestion would be to repot it in a bigger pot with new soil. You may want to use a root started when repotting to give it a little boost.
I hope this helps!
