These bugs swarmed for two+ days from around a window. They range in size. Some had wings, others crawled like ants. What are they? Are they eating our house?

Those are ants (Family: Formicidae). The individuals look pretty large, which likely makes them carpenter ants (Camponotus species). If you want to confirm that they are carpenter ants, you could bring some specimens to your local county OSU Extension office, or you could send specimens to us at the OSU Plant Clinic. Since you are seeing a good number of these ants indoors, it is possible they have taken up residence in your home and could be doing some damage. Some carpenter ant species can be pretty damaging to wood in homes and other structures, so it would probably be a good idea to contact a reputable pest control company in your area to get a carpenter ant inspection. Once an assessment is made, you can talk with the company representatives about what might be needed to eliminate the problem.
