Indoor seedling leaf robber #827668

Asked April 29, 2023, 9:30 AM EDT

Hello, I am trying to figure out what indoor pest might be eating at my seedlings. I have a mixture of annuals, herbs, and Swiss chard. My Swiss chard in particular is getting hit hard by some type of leaf nibbler. My cosmos have been attacked as well. I don't see any flying gnats. I noticed that it occurs overnight. Any help would be appreciated!

Expert Response

Several indoor insects, including sap-feeding insects, pollen feeders, caterpillars, and slugs, will attack indoor seedlings.  Monitor your plants and the soil to see which insect this is.  For detailed information on the variety of insects that may be eating your seedlings and how to remedy this, see
