Peach tree problems #827236

Asked April 26, 2023, 7:44 AM EDT

There is something wrong with our peach tree. 2 years ago it made lots of delicious peaches. Last year it made flowers, that turned into little green baby peaches, but then they all fell, never changed color and we had absolutely not one mature fruit. This year we had flowers and now have the baby peaches, but some of the leaves and some of the branches look strange. Please see pics attached. It is planted next to a pear tree, a sour cherry tree and a red maple. Can you tell what is wrong? Can we help this tree? Will we have edible fruit again?

Expert Response

Growing tree fruits is not easy in our area due to multiple insect pests and diseases common to our climate.
In order to get good tree fruit, it takes a good bit of careful management and precisely timed and repeated chemical sprays.
(Small fruits like blueberries, strawberries and figs are a lot easier).
The leaves on your peach are showing symptoms of Peach Leaf Curl, a fungal disease that causes serious defoliation and fruit loss on peaches. You can learn more about it at the link below.
