Help identifying pasture weeds? #827011

Asked April 24, 2023, 4:55 PM EDT

I have included pics of a few weeds I have on my acreage. There are 2 clumpy grassy weeds, and another that the tips can be pulled out and you get little spears. The acreage is in the Fulshear area and we sit along the bank of the Brazos.

Hello Jordan,
As you can imagine, identifying a weed from a photo is no easy task.
It does appear you have Cenchrus spinifex Cav., stickerbur or sandbur. This started sprouting in FBC after Harvey. I am attaching an article that will give you a description and guidelines for management of bur.

The other two photos seem to be of Cyperus esculentus L., yellow sedge but I can't really tell. I am sending a link that may help you with the description. Click on the photo for details.

Lastly, it looks like Dactylis glomerata, Orchardgrass. This pasture grass grows well in Texas and has been spreading over the past few years.
