This yew I inherited had a brown area that was removed by a contractor about 2 yrs ago. Do you think new growth will someday fill in the hole?

Hello,
I found several articles which state that the yew (Taxus) is capable of regenerative growth. It is one of the few evergreens which will regrow after a hard pruning. But, the yew in the picture does not look to be sending out new shoots and since it has been two years, it may never do so. Even if it doesn't develop a new branch, it looks as though the growth on the surrounding branches should help fill in the opening.
I've listed a few links below for articles about yews. Please feel free to write back if you should have more questions.
