I had some grass die in the dry weather in the spring a year ago. This invasive species has replaced it. What is this grass and how do I get rid of it?

It's really difficult to tell at this point, but it looks like it could be a warm season grass (one that will green up after the weather warms). Did you seed anything into this area? Or plant any plugs?
If this patch occurred just last summer, then it's really a mystery because the grow is super vigorous.
Could you send me some photos closer up? And it may be that we need to wait until it greens up for a positive identification.
However, with most grasses, there are no selective control options available, so using a non-selective herbicide (glyphosate, hort vinegar, other burn-down products) are your only options. You would spray it (like twice, possibly three times) and then reseed or resod the area.
Do check your irrigation in this spot because there could be a link to lack of coverage for why the original grass died.
