Cottonwood Slime Flux #823714

Asked March 28, 2023, 12:12 PM EDT

Noticed a white residue on our cottonwood tree this fall and with some research thought it might be slime flux. Is this actually slime flux and is there anything I can do to help prevent it from spreading?

Hennepin County Minnesota

Expert Response

The stain show in the photos is probably evidence of slime flux, also known wetwood.
