Expert Response
Thanks for contacting us about moving your Indian plum. Since we are expecting extreme weather this week, wait until the temperatures return to normal to dig your plant.
Dig the largest rootball you can manage and try to retain any long roots. Rather than squeezing it into a pot, dig it into a temporary location. Cover the roots well with compost or soil, then mulch it well. Water immediately and then every few days to keep the soil from drying out.
Your plant should be ok since it is still dormant. Try to plant it in a permanent location before it buds out and then keep it mulched and watered as you would for any new plant. Do not fertilize this year except for applying compost on the surface (do not mix it into the fill dirt.)
I hope this is helpful. Please write again any time you have questions.

Thank you. I don't believe the Indian Plum is still dormant but because it's where I'm locating a new shed, it has to be moved. Will this change any of your recomendations?
Thanks again

Hello again,
It should still be ok. It will be best to try to get it into a permanent location before the weather warms up and the plant really gets rolling.
Good luck!
