This insect is a seed bug. My best guess as to the species is Pseudopamera nitidula. As per the name, they typically feed on the seed pods of plants. Just like stinkbugs, seed bugs often make their way into homes through cracks around windows/doorways and seek out dark, cozy spaces to spend the winter months in a dormant state. They are not known to feed on houseplants or to be pests of humans. To control them, I recommend making sure that all entrances into the house are properly sealed, especially areas around windows.
