Drying Rosemary #816356

Asked November 12, 2022, 2:36 PM EST

I have dried my Rosemary. I membrane that connects the leaves to the stem turns white. Does this have to be removed before grinding?

Expert Response

Separate the dried rosemary leaves from the stem. The full leaves can be ground into a powder by placing the leaves into a coffee/spice grinder. Once ground, you can sieve the ground mixture and re-process the larger pieces again.

Thanks for your response. My dried rosemary is split into full leaves dried rosemary in a pepper grinder and the rest ground. I like the sieve idea for the ground rosemary.

The reason I asked about the membrane where the leaf joins the stem is because it turns white when dried. It shows on the leaf in the pepper grinder.
