I have 2 flower carpet rose trees. I have never had a rose tree before and I’m wondering how to protect them, especially since the tops are grafted into the trunks. I have heard that they are delicate and need special protection in the winter, but I’m not sure exactly what that entails. I’m enclosing a picture of each tree for reference.

Those are lovely rose trees. Do you have the tag still available or know what standard was used for these? Many of the standards used for tree roses are not winter hardy in our area.
If they are not zone 4 hardy, then you could consider potting them and moving them to a protected area. Another option would be to consider tipping them and burying them below ground to protect, as is done with other tender roses in MN. The process is more completely described in the web link below.
