Good Evening Bill,

Thank you for contacting the University of Minnesota Extension.

I believe your shrub is a ninebark. I have attached a link to the U of M Extension website about ninebark shrubs: https://trees.umn.edu/little-devil-ninebark-physocarpus-opulifolius-donna-may

If you scroll down this link, they list different varieties with their botanical names. You could look these names up on a search engine to find the variety you might have based on the leaf color and habit. There are also links to the Missouri Botanical Garden and the Morton Arboretum for further research.

Good Luck!

Thank you for the information.

The shrub never has any flowers or berries.

Checking the different varieties I believe it appears to be the Ninebark Darts Gold variety.

Good Evening Bill,

I am happy you were able to come up with a possible hybrid of your ninebark. If the shrubs are older and do not get enough sun or nutrients, they may not flower or fruit.  Sometimes the surrounding trees grow up and shade the landscape shrubs.

Good luck with your replacement.
