Hello,

This appears to be a grape leaf skeletonizer: https://www2.ipm.ucanr.edu/agriculture/grape/western-grapeleaf-skeletonizer/

Hi Nancy,

Nothing to worry about. If you find them inside, just toss them outside. They can be irritating to skin, so consider wearing gloves. They are finding their overwintering place.

We are seeing more caterpillars because the European paperwasp numbers are declining - they were consuming lots of caterpillars the last many years, but the balance is much better. That means more moths and butterflies for us!
