Tulips under Redbud? #813463

Asked October 06, 2022, 8:51 PM EDT

Hello, and thank you for answering my question. I planted a redbud tree this spring. It's about 4 feet tall. I have cleared out a perimeter that's over a 2 ft radius. Can I plant tulips and daffodils in the outer 6-8 inches? Please say yes! :-)

Expert Response

You can plant bulbs under trees, but I’d put them as far away from the trunk. If you hit roots while digging try another spot. Surface roots are among the most important for trees.
