Testing garden soil for mycotoxins? #813452

Asked October 06, 2022, 6:40 PM EDT

Is it possible to get my garden soil tested for Ochratoxin-A? It is a harmful mycotoxin that causes cancer and brain damage. I tested positive for high levels of it in my body, but my house came back clean. I am an avid gardener and eat the vegetables I grow. It is possible for crops to be systemically affected, yet I'm not sure if the toxin sticks around in the soil. There is very little information online. Any answers would be deeply appreciated.

Thank you for your question, Megan.  This OSU Extension publication has a list of analytical labs which provide testing for an array of issues:  https://catalog.extension.oregonstate.edu/em8677
The list following the chart identifies what the lab tests for.  Since this has a fungal source, they may need both plant and soil samples.  Good luck!
