Unknown bug in rabbit pen #813211

Can you please help identify this bug? It was found in my rabbit pen earlier today.

This looks like a beetle, but we can't determine exactly which species (thousands occur in Maryland and unrelated species sometimes look nearly identical). We can say that it is not one of the beetles that are commonplace household pests (like carpet beetles or pantry/grain beetles).
