Ran into this today…. Can you eliminate it or would you like more pictures…. I have had a European hornets nest before. This is different…

This looks like a Southern Yellowjacket, a native wasp; specifically a queen. These newly-born queens will overwinter by themselves in a sheltered spot (the rest of the colony they were born into dies by winter) and start their own colonies next spring. Nests are not re-used from year to year. Since their priorities are not nest defense they are not prone to stinging unless swatted or otherwise bothered.
