Quack grass?? #811566

Asked September 20, 2022, 2:50 PM EDT

I am wondering if there is a location in the Mpls/St. Paul area that a home owner can bring in a sample of grass to find out what it really is. I am afraid that I may be getting quack grass and I need to kill it off so it doesn't invade further, but I really don't want to RoundUp a section of my yard if I don't have to. I have included pictures if it can be identified from those. Thanks!

There are summer Master Gardener opportunities for plant identification at plant sales, farmers markets and fairs.  These are over for the season.  Some garden centers may be able to help.  You will need a complete plant with a good portion of the root system.
Your pictures are not detailed enough to identify the grass/weed.  The leaves do have the clasping auricle characteristic of quackgrass. The root system is critical to identifying quackgrass. Look for a long white root system.  Here is additional information about quackgrass that may be helpful.
