Hi there, my neighbor recent cut the evergreen tree down which caused me to notice mine. I have a Golden Locusts tree and the bark is peeling. I’m wondering if it has a bug or a disease? Can it be saved or just cut it down? Thank you for any advice you can offer .

Hello Cecile,
The splits in the bark appear to be from older damage. From these pictures the tree looks healthy. There is evidence of borers, but I think they are secondary and attracted to dead wood. This looks to be a large tree. I'm recommending you have a professional arborist come out and evaluate the tree to determine the cause of the damage and whether it can be saved. We have some information on how to find an arborist through the link below.
