Expert Response

Hello, Donna - I believe what you have there is a member of the juniper family, an eastern red cedar tree.  It is native to Michigan.  The berries are attractive to birds in winter.  A mature tree can reach 40  feet tall.  Here is a link that includes some general information.  https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/juniperus-virginiana/
I hope this helps!
