Growing figs & Wasps #808363

QUESTION RE Negronne Figs: I s it true that these figs are pollinated by wasps that peneprate the fig and die and desolve inside the ripening fruit? Really? I've heard yay and nay. Insert image here. This year is ~ my sixth harvest with the Negronne Fig Tree purchased from you (TSC Territorial Seed Company). I love this tree & we are learning each other's ways. It produces scrumptious and delicious figs and is my high point every year. The little nubbins are appearing and we're beginning to thin the leaves so the tree will focus on preparing for our harvest.

Hi Pat- Thanks for your question about the wasps that pollinate figs. I too have heard both answers and it turns out both are correct! You need to know that your Negronne fig is a "common fig" and I've attached an article that common figs do not require pollination from a wasp and therefore are totally vegan. I never see wasps around my fig tree, to that explains why!
