Hello, I have just replaced several light fixtures and find these bugs in the ceiling. What are they?

Expert Response

Hi, Thomas: thanks for contacting the Jefferson county extension plant diagnostic clinic.

It is possible that the insect in your ceiling is a weevil (a type of beetle with a snout). Some weevils get into pantries and others are just entering homes to find cool moist areas.

The extension fact sheets below discuss this insect and prevention/control measures. If you are not sure this is what you see, you could bring a fresh sample to the plant clinic at the Jeffco fairgrounds: 15200 West 6th Avenue, Golden, 80401;<personal data hidden>, Tues-Friday 8:30 to 4:30.
