Insect identification #807037

Asked August 19, 2022, 12:07 PM EDT

Hello, I found several of these small insects on my turtle head flower plants. I first thought they were marmorated stink bugs, but they are different and rather small. was unable to find anything online. Would love to know what these are. Thanks! Jennifer

Expert Response

Thank you for your question, Jennifer.  This is a stink bug.  I am unable to see how many stripes are on the antennae to say whether it is the invasive marmorated stink bug, described here:  https://extension.umn.edu/yard-and-garden-insects/brown-marmorated-stink-bug#:~:text=Adults%20are%20shield%2Dshaped%2C%20mottled,odor%20when%20disturbed%20or%20crushed
I hope this is helpful.
