What kind of bug is this? It is a small flying green bug all over my zinnias and other plants. I have tomatoes too. Do they need to be sprayed, or eliminated some other way, or are they beneficial? The leaves of zinnias have been eaten and the flowers don't look good but I think that is from Japanese beetles we have as well.

We sent your pictures to our entomology experts and they said these are Northern corn rootworm beetles and that they commonly visit flowers in the fall. Here is some additional information on corn rootworm beetles.
