Diseased service berry bushes #806126

What is wrong with these two serviceberry bushes? At first it looked like lichen on the trunks, but now it is this black and I see flies and ants. We had a magnolia tree with magnolia scab that we took out in July. Could that have something to do with this? What should we do?

The black looks like black sooty mold and the white blotches in the last picture look like lichens. It isn’t possible to give a positive identification from a photo. The plant disease clinic could do that from a sample.
