Is it to late to trim Yew shrubs?

Wvergreens like yews and arborvitae can be pruned up until mid-summer, so we are past the recommended pruning time.
These plants will put on new growth when pruned and this late-season new growth may not grow to become hardy enough to survive winter. You won't kill the main plant by pruning now, but you may need to remove more than usual dieback next spring.
