Rust on Apple Tree Leaves #805222

Asked August 08, 2022, 12:59 PM EDT

I have a few apple tress that have yellow and brown spots on all the leaves. See attached picture. Based on the pictures on this website it looks like Red Ceder Rust. There are no red ceder trees on my property and I don't see any on my neighbors property anywhere near the apple trees. The trees that get infected with this in the past have all died. I was wondering if you can confirm if this is rust, and what treatments I can do to the trees to try and save them. I

It sure looks like cedar apple rust... when you flip the leaves over, do you see the fungi growing like this in the pictures in the article below?

We don't have rust in the northern part of Michigan, but it is possible to bring it in on trees from a nursery or if you are growing your apples down state. Removing cedars is the best thing to do to break the cycle. If you don't have cedars near you, then the rust fungi should die off.
