Arborist help on the reason why my 30 year old Oak Tree died this month #803430

Asked July 28, 2022, 8:28 AM EDT

Back in 2012 Ottawa county Ohio soil and water conservation district offered to spray my pond which was overgrown with Cattails and other invasive plants for free thru a grant, anyways to make story short within a month it killed lots of trees and grass in my property, my drinking water was also affected. They offered to remediate by paying for the labor of cutting the dead trees etc. About few weeks ago I noticed that my old Oak tree died attached pictures, the maple tree has been dead but they refused to cut it, I personally think that this is the effect of the herbicide. If you can connect me with your expert or arborist, I would really appreciate any input thanks

Expert Response

I would suggest start Your with the department of natural resources. Your county is in division 4 of the urban forestry division.
This is the site for the DNR.

I hope Stephanie can help you with some local resources ie: Arborist that I am not aware of.

I know there are other disease that might also have affected this oak.  These articles discuss the deadly fungal blight that is causing Oaks to die in Ohio.
