Hello,
Do you know what this plant is?
I bought a hybrid gourd seed and this is no gourd. I thought I’d check before pulling it.
It is in a tomato cage because I assumed it was a gourd. Feel free to tease me.

Hello,
The plant is definitely not a goard.
It looks like a weedy species of buckwheat (Polygonum spp.)
I would remove it before it creates viable seed.
You can put it in your yard debris bin or put the whole plant (or at least the flowers) in the trash to keep the seeds from spreading.

Weston,
Thanks for your help. I yanked it out and have discarded it. You have been a great source of information and opened a spot in my garden.
With gratitude, Rolla Lewis
