Brown spots on burning bush #802751

Asked July 24, 2022, 2:03 PM EDT

A bush we have has developed light tan to brown spots that are increasing. I've attached some pictures. I think this bush is a "burning bush" but (I hate to say it) I am no longer sure that is correct. Can you help me determine what the spots are and what I should do about them?

Expert Response

I believe your euonymus has either Cercospora Leaf Spot or Anthracnose.  It is hard to tell without actually examining the leaves.  In either case, sanitation is extremely important.  Clean up and destroy and leaves that fall.  Neither are fatal diseases at this point.  Here is a link to a publication from Clemson that describes the diseases and how to treat.  The products recommended are listed on the bottom with the retail names.
