Crabgrass control #802602

Asked July 23, 2022, 12:24 PM EDT

I purchased the product shown in the attached photo below and used it with only minimal success. We followed all the directions relating to mowing, temperature and water etc but still not great success with killing the crabgrass. Any thoughts?

Expert Response

Crabgrass is a difficult weed to control once it is growing.  Quinclorac (one of the ingredients in your product) will be somewhat effective on young plants, but it is probably too late now. Spot treatment with glyphosate (which will kill anything green and growing) might work.

However, crabgrass is an annual grass, so simply by putting down a preemergent herbicide at the proper time (end of April, usually) you can reduce crabgrass greatly.
