A Douglas fir was rescued from a center divider where a car had run it over. The root ball was exposed to the air for several weeks and the tree is beginning to turn brown on a couple of the lower branches. I have re-potted it with some potting soil and watering it. It has a 3-4 inch trunk and missing some bark on one side that is not circumferential. Do you think it will survive if kept watered and would you recommend any root hormone supplements or fertilizer?

Expert Response
Greetings Charlotte,
Unfortunately, we do not answer out-of-state questions. I was able to find information on an extension office in your county, hosted through Montana State University: https://cascade.msuextension.org/. I suggest contacting them at <personal data hidden> or

I hope this helps!
