not an earthworm, not a jumping worm #800080

Asked July 08, 2022, 2:03 PM EDT

When it rained last time we noticed weird worms on the driveway. They are not earthworms, and not slugs, more like a fat earthworm, maybe 1-2" long but very thick in the middle but have all the other earthworm markings such as color. I've been looking at worm pics and can't identify it. Any ideas? We live between Duluth and Two Harbors off the McQuade road.

Can you take a photo the next time you see them and send it. to us.  We're much more likely then to get you an accurate ID.

I believe they are a type of snail if I look close enough at the pic

This is in the genus Arion, and it's a slug. Here is an article by the U of Mn that will tell you all about slugs - https://extension.umn.edu/yard-and-garden-insects/slugs
